RAN Innovation offers stability checks for storage tanks using digital twins:
- New tanks
- Existing tanks
Surveys are conducted using 3D laser scanning:
- Internal surveys for new or maintained tanks
- External surveys for tanks in operation (bottom geometry cannot be scanned in this case)
Data is processed to create a digital twin, a parametric model with detailed information about the tank’s
geometry, materials and thicknesses.
The digital twin enables creation of a finite element model for stability checks using both linear and large displacement non-linear analyses to determine the actual safety factor.
If the safety coefficient is inadequate, RAN Innovation can design corrective measures to restore full tank operation.
Stability checks identify critical issues and suggest targeted solutions. The digital twin ensures model accuracy, rapid response, and cost-effective interventions to minimize downtime and restore full functionality.
