From Reality to Digital Twin: The Predictive Integrity Revolution
Speaking during the plenary session of the Tankconex Conference and Exhibition, Alessandro Nanni, CEO of RAN Innovation, presented the company’s vision for the future of industrial asset management, introducing the concept of Predictive Integrity — a data-driven, AI-powered approach that promises to transform how companies assess, maintain, and protect their critical infrastructure.
“Predictive Integrity is more than just a technical innovation — it’s a new way of thinking,” Nanni stated in front of a packed audience. “It empowers decision-makers to anticipate structural issues before they emerge, giving them the visibility they need to plan maintenance and allocate resources effectively, with full awareness of asset condition and lifecycle.”
At the core of RAN Innovation’s offering is RAN AIM, a proprietary platform that processes 3D survey data — from laser scanners or SLAM systems — and converts it into parametric digital twins. These models are then used to perform automatic structural, volumetric, and functional analyses, as well as simulations that assess risk factors, remaining life, and operational readiness.

Nanni emphasized the central role of artificial intelligence, explaining how the platform automates up to 95% of the workflow, recognizes industrial components (like tanks and piping), and creates site-specific predictive models that take into account local environmental conditions.
“What sets this system apart is the combination of technical depth and ease of use,” he added. “Thanks to mixed reality, even complex data becomes accessible and understandable — not just to engineers, but to anyone involved in the decision-making process.”
The solution is fully compliant with international standards such as API and ISO, and is already being applied in oil & gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, energy, and civil sectors.
“We are honored to bring this approach to Tankconex in Dammam,” Nanni concluded. “Saudi Arabia is at the forefront of industrial innovation, and we believe Predictive Integrity can play a key role in helping operators manage complexity with clarity, precision, and foresight.”
